Ham College, Episode 3

Ham-Com 2015 – Epilogue

I personally have not had any feedback from attendees at HamCom this year (I tried to return one member’s call I missed while in the Museum at Gettysburg – so far haven’t heard back), but with the exception of the dueling logistics between HamCom and the Marathon which occurred in the vicinity, I’ve seen nothing but kudos from attendees.

I’d really like to hear YOUR story! Send me your review – WB5ULK@arrl.net!

What is Field Day

Good question. It’s a lot of things.

It’s practicing for when WE need to go into the field to DO OUR THING, which is COMMUNICATE. To support a community partner during a disaster in our community, a neighboring community, or some other state if the situation warrants.
It is Fellowship.
It is Food.
It is Mentoring.
It is Public Relations.
It is Competition.
It is sharpening your operating axe.
It is solving problems on the fly.
It is Fun.

By the way, “Field Day” is not just us (US), it is MANY National Amateur Radio entities:

But, as far as the U.S. is concerned, this pretty much describes much of what happens at Field Day in a more coherent manner than what I said above:

Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF, SK

For those of you who do not receive notifications of the non-Newsletter posts to the SCARSNEWSLETTER blog, you may have missed that Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF, Producer of co-founder of Amater Radio Newsline (formerly WESTNet) became a Silent Key on Thursday, June 11th. The amateurs who have stepped-up over the past months to fill-in for Bill produced this video about Bill and his contribution to the Radio Art. Bill worked endless hours to promote Amateur Radio and will be missed terribly by the Amateur Community.
