 Siren Test Net Starts Tomorrow

Peter, N5UWY, posted about this earlier on the SCARS Facebook page. The 1st Weekly Norman Outdoor Warning Siren Test Net begins TOMORROW AT NOON!

EVERYTHING you need to know – sirens needing to be adopted, frequency (hint: It is NOT on the VHF repeater), Net Format and Discipline, etc., can be found at the following link on the SCARS Webpage:

Here’s an image below of the Norman OWS system with locations and numbers (also found at that link above, but LARGER):

The Amateur Amateur

Peter, N5UWY, posted about this site a few weeks ago and I’ve been wading through it since then. A LOT of stuff is there! This month, he talks about his experience with WinLink. Scroll down to the bottom to delve into his past columns. One Great Site!

August 3 VE Session Results

Another excellent test session tonight, probably with some new members.

7 new Technicians
2 upgrades to General
2 upgrades to Amateur Extra

One didn’t leave happy but will be getting some assistance via the USPS.

Thanks to all that showed up to make it go.

EDIT: Oh, and one new Volunteer Examiner – welcome to the team, AG5LB.

 Collector & Emitter

Here is the direct link to the historical issues of CORA’s almost 30 year long, monthly publication, The Collector & Emitter. Lot’s of great stories, True and Fiction, MANY club meeting notes, Happenings in Oklahoma Amateur Radio, and for me at least, a ton of memories about the Amateur Radio Dealers which we had in the OKC area. Lots and lots of fun reading.

When you start reading these, the clock will just melt away…

That list is at the bottom of the SCARS Repeater blog maintained by our trusty Trustee, N5UWY – SCARS Repeater Blog (that underlined part is a hyperlink straight to the repeater blog). Scroll down to the Red Box at the bottom of the blog to find the recommended memory entries for you VHF/UHF equipment.
