In this week’s Newsletter, an overnight piece of bad news leads the Newsletter, followed by my “partial report” of the March Club Meeting. There are still SKYWARN training events available – see the schedule linked in “Dates to Remember”. I’ve added a bunch of links to the online Amateur Radio resources listing, followed by the happenings for the coming weeks, and “The Doctor” opens up his Mailbag. This week’s ARRL Letter leads with their reasoning for petitioning for expanded Tech privileges in HF, and Tad Cook talks about our “spotless Sun”, and other “stuff”!
Amateur Radio Newsline has a VERY interesting segment about a tech company, Swarm, getting “stung” by the FCC for unauthorized and unlicensed satellite launches. There are lots of moving parts in this story, but the fallout is that launching satellites will likely get even harder to do. Mostly “tech” websites are yakking about this. Search for “Swarm FCC” for stories from TechCrunch, Engadget, and other similar websites.
If you can’t find anything interesting to read, watch, or listen to here, Harold has a big “Open House” (LOTS of stuff for sale) going on starting today! Here’s what Barbara, KD5ZVB, posted on the SCARS Facebook Group Thursday evening:
Open house starting Today
Hours 12 noon to 5pm
Saturday 12 noon to 5pm
Sunday 12 noon to 5 pm
Snacks and drinks provided
All types of radio and amps. Come by and kick the tires.
And with that, we start with sad news …
W5ZAX – SK
KH6AAA, Tom, sent an email very early this morning that David Dary, W5ZAX, passed away last evening. David was one of the Club’s older members at 83, but was quite active in the Club and on the bands. I will send an email when his obituary is made public.
Saturday evening, N5UWY posted a link to this on the Facebook Page:

March Meeting – Aftermath
Amateur Radio Satellites
*I* had a competing event, but made the last 20 minutes of Peter’s Amateur Satellite talk. What I heard was really good! There were 55 people when I got there, and everyone broke up into the “normal for us” Stay After School events at the end. A good group.
You won’t want to miss April’s meeting.
