I must give a heartfelt thanks to Mark, N5HZR, for doing the Newsletter for me while Linda and I were in Kenya. Yes, I DO have a boatload of pictures (over 1500), but I promise to not bore you here with them. That said, IF you catch me at Ham Holiday this weekend, you won’t have to twist my arm very hard for me to show you pictures on my iPad, but only if you ask!  Hope to see you there!

Ham Holiday – Tomorrow & Saturday

Oklahoma City’s Hamfest, called Ham Holiday STARTS THIS AFTERNOON! Each year about 700 amateurs from Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas attend a conference to buy more radio stuff, sell some radio stuff, learn about some radio stuff, or talk about some radio stuff. We’ll be at the spacious remodeled Tower Hotel, in Northwest Oklahoma City. Call 405-842-6633 today for our group rate of $79 per night includes free breakfast and free Wi-Fi. The hotel / conference center is on Northwest Highway, just across the street from Integris Baptist hospital. Tickets are only $10 in advance and $12 at-the-door. Tickets are available online at

If you are a new ham, an experienced ham or a wanna-be ham, you should attend this event. Our SCARS VE team will be operating a FREE VE test at 1:00 pm. If you pass your first amateur radio license test at Ham Holiday, you’ll be able to attend for free!

This year the hamfest vendor / flea market area will be open on Friday the 27th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Radio gear of all sizes, shapes, and budgets.

Friday Banquet

Friday evening at 7:30 will be the annual Ham Holiday banquet. Valerie Hotzfeld N9VL is our featured speaker. Valerie’s a regular on the Ham Nation podcast and is from Central Illinois. This banquet starts after the Friday session completed. Dinner is served at 7:30 pm, in the Salon A-B-C suite. We have a little more room this year, so get your tickets early. This is a great place to visit with your fellow hams, and visit with the state, and local ARRL leadership present. Banquet tickets are $25 and we will have a chicken and ham buffet with great sides and desserts, from “Catering by Finley“. Order your banquet tickets today. After the banquet, we’ll have a Wouff Hong ceremony for ARRL members.
