April Showers Meeting
We had 45 Brave Souls who challenged the rain and showed up last Saturday. N5HZR gave us the blow-by-blow of what the Amateur Radio Emergency Service is and what we do for our served organizations. There IS a new training format for ARES and YOU should check in to what will be required to qualify.
For those multitudes who missed the meeting,
you can catch the replay of Mark’s presentation here:
W5LFL – SK
Almost every Amateur Radio News source this week has a story about Oklahoma native and NASA Astronaut, Owen Garriott, W5LFL.
For me, he was one of my heroes of my teenage years.
I’ll step outside of the Amateur community and link to a story about him from the New York Times.
Worth your time.
Sound The Alarm
Join the American Red Cross to Sound the Alarm,
a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event.
On May 4th the American Red Cross in Oklahoma City, OK needs your help to install 100,000 free smoke alarms and raise funds for lifesaving services during Sound the Alarm home fire safety and smoke alarm installation events.
Every day, seven people die in home fires and the Red Cross wants to do everything we can to prevent these needless tragedies. Volunteers work alongside fire departments and other local groups, canvassing at-risk neighborhoods to install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms, educate families about fire prevention and safety, and fundraise for this lifesaving mission.
One day of your life can change someone else’s forever.
Join us to Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.
