Jon Tankersley WD5HCI Silent Key — Menu
It is with great sadness that we report that Jon Tankersley WD5HCI has become a silent key. Jon was an active member in SCARS, and was the Assistant Emergency Manager for the City of Newcastle, OK. Service information is pending.
Jon accomplished a lot throughout his life, but he was best known for his ability and willingness to help others. This picture shows Jon helping some Newcastle youth to make Morse Code bracelets as a part of their amateur radio technician class.
He was a pilot in the USAF, Oklahoma Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve. The Air Force got him started in the Medical Technology field and he became a Paramedic until 2014. He then started in the Emergency Management field for the City of Newcastle, Oklahoma.
Jon first was licensed as a novice in 1954. He passed his Extra Class license in 2017. He ran many Technician, General and Amateur Extra classes and helped countless people to get, or enhance their license.
Jon will be missed by all of his friends and family. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Texoma Hamarama This Weekend — Menu
The Texoma Hamarama Family FunFest is Southern Oklahoma’s largest indoor air-conditioned Ham Fest, forum, swap meet, expo and ham radio market place.
This hamfest will run October 25th and 26th at the Ardmore Convention Center. This is always a great hamfest and worth the trip down I-35.
Friday – Setup 12:00 Noon – Open 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM
Saturday – Setup 7:00 AM – Open 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM
A special request from the Hamarama team. If you’re an ARRL VE and you’re there before 10:30 am on Saturday, please tell the front desk people. They may need a few extra helpers for the 9:30 – 10:30 session.
Also, if you’re willing to spend an hour helping the hamfest, please let the front desk know. They have a few volunteer slots open, and would appreciate the help.
Finally, the Texoma Hamarama is operated by a board that is elected at the end of the Hamfest. If you would like to make next year’s hamfest better, please sign up for a board member position.
The tables are filling up fast, the vendors are coming quickly, and it should be a great Hamfest. See you there!
