Christmas Party on Tuesday — Menu
The annual Christmas Party started in 1978 and now brings about 50 hams together with for a great meal at the Golden Corral, a great time for us to visit, and a ‘White Elephant’ Christmas gift exchange. Each gift should be a maximum of $10, and “No Free Harbor Freight items are allowed”. Bring your wrapped gift labeled as from/for either a “ham” or “non-ham.”
This year this will be December 3, 2019, at 6:00 pm, at the Golden Corral, 123 N Interstate Dr., Norman, OK. Elmer Night will be canceled for 12/3/2019 so we can all have another great party. This year, plan to spend about $15 for the meal, and SCARS will be taking care of the gratuity.
More information is available on the SCARS Facebook Group.
See you there!
Santa on 3.916 MHz — Menu
Every year on 3.916 MHz, the good folks at the Tailgaiters Net give good little boys and girls a chance to talk to Santa Claus at the North Pole! It is indeed a magical experience to experience kids talking with Santa through the magic of Amateur Radio! The Santa Net is on the air every night, November 29th through December 24th at 7:15 PM Central. To participate in The Santa Net, just have your kids prepared to tell Santa their top 2-3 gift wishes. If you don’t have any kids, it’s always fun to listen to!
Pre-net check-ins are welcome. Reserve a spot with Santa by making a pre-net check -in. You can check-in either on the air starting at 7 PM (Central) or online at www.CQSanta.com
Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas from The 3916 Nets!!!
December Meeting – BVI Recap — Menu
Another year is rapidly coming to a close, and the December meeting is right around the corner, on December 14th. Our program will be presented by our own CW DX’er Bill Roberson N5AQ. In early October, Jeff Martin K5WE and Bill took a DXpedition to the Brittish Virgin Islands to activate VP2V. Hopefully, some of you got to work them while they were on-the-air. Jeff built a slide deck from the trip and Bill will tell us how this DXpedition worked from the inside. Come see how one of these trips work, and learn how you can make a trip yourself.
SCARS meetings happen on the second Saturday of the month (third in June) at 9:00 am at the Norman Firehouse #7, 2207 Goddard Ave, just west of the intersection of W. Rock Creek Rd. and N. Flood Ave. All of the location and time details are available on the Meetings/Nets page of this website.
