The South Canadian Amateur Radio Society is an IRS 501(c)(3) Amateur Radio Organization located in Norman, Oklahoma. 

SCARS has been an active supporter of the cities of Norman, Moore, and Noble, as well as Cleveland County for many years, not only working hard to spread knowledge about ham radio but to also serve as a volunteer base during times of emergency.

SCARS has many volunteers that are part of the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES)  and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). 

SCARS is identified by the American Radio Relay League as a Special Services Club and is a member of the Central Oklahoma Radio Amateurs, a group of clubs that coordinate their efforts across central Oklahoma.

SCARS is a recognized NOAA Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador.




The Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador initiative is an effort to formally recognize NOAA partners who are improving the nation’s readiness against extreme weather, water, and climate events. As a Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador, your organization is committing to work with NOAA and other Ambassadors to strengthen national resilience against extreme weather.
